Tessa’s Preferred Preparation
Light a candle.
Fill a 4” metal tea ball or large cotton sash with herbs. Let the herbs steep in your steaming hot bath water as it fills. Let the water cool to a comfortable temperature before bathing. Let the herbs continue to steep in your bath water until you are through with your bath.
Now is a good time to add any oils you desire to your soak. I find oils are absorbed into the skin much more effectively in warm bath water, compared to dry skin.
As you soak, focus on the answers you would like to divine through a night vision. Say a simple invocation or prayer to set your intention. For example:
"With mugwort, I open myself to the other world. With rose, I welcome softness and grief into my heart. With yarrow, I do seek the face of my beloved. May my dreams be filled with divine guidance."
Do not dry your body with a towel, but let yourself drip dry before retiring to bed.
Alternative Preparation (if you don’t have a ball or sash)
Boil a pot of water and add the dried herbs. Let them steep for about 20 minutes, allowing the herbs to release their properties and darken the water.
Strain the herbal infusion and pour it into your warm bath.
