Samhain Celebration

Join us November 2nd at 6pm to honor the dead and our ancestral heritage, to foster community and celebrate the coming of winter. Samhain is an ancient Celtic festival marking the end of the harvest season and the onset of winter, and is thought to be the origin of our modern holiday- Halloween. Celebrated at the end of October and into early November, it was believed to be a time when the veil between the living and the dead was thinnest, allowing spirits to roam the earth. We have so many fun things planned for this gathering!

Be sure to secure your ticket for this one early, as we have limited space due to the nature of the event.

We will be serving a GF stew and soul cakes (included in your ticket), and have plenty to drink! Come partake in tarot and Astro readings, parlor games such as divination cakes and snap apple, ballad singing and open mic song sharing. Feel the haunt of the season with a ghost story telling open mic and tales from our friends at Hyldyr.* We are very excited to end the night with an Irish polka dance lesson lead by our friend Brian.

Come with a story or song to share!

We encourage attendees to share about their dead and unique heritage, or come with a ghost story or wyrd telling. Songs that have to do with your heritage, ghosts, funerals, murder, or the Autumn would all be appropriate.

We will also have an altar to the dead set up. We encourage you to bring photos and memorabilia of your beloved dead as well as offerings for your ancestors. Examples of this could be tobacco, bread, or coins.

Madrone has a few autumnal ballads to sing and Tessa will be sharing folklore and strange tales of the Keshcorran caves in County Sligo Ireland, thought to be the seat of the fairy Queen and origin place of Samhain.

Oíche Shamhna shona daoibh go léir!
